Do Your Homework

Diane 0 0

IMG_1439It is easier than ever to access information now on just about any topic. So when you decide to run a half or full marathon, do your homework! Yes, it’s fine to get advice from runner blogs and FB pages but it is wise to seek information from professional sources as well. After you do a little homework…..

When the Going Gets Tough…

Diane 0 0

…the tough get going!! Such a common phrase, is it true? When life gets hard or the training run is kicking your butt, do you keep going or do you give in to those desires to quit? I’ve found that the key to NOT quitting when times are hard is to plan ahead.

Think about the tough obstacles that can pop up and decide that you WILL overcome them. I find this to be true in life, whether it’s…..

Getting Real

Diane 0 0

Six weeks until race day, until I run the Prairie Fire Marathon! At this point, the long runs are getting VERY LONG. As the saying goes, “It’s getting real!” I love this part of the training because it is both physically and mentally taxing. I love this part because the goal is in sight! I love this part because I will have to dig deep, really focus on the 360. LongRunAugRead more

Perseverance: A Key to Success

Diane 0 0

We live in a fast paced, immediate gratification culture. Microwavable food, drive through windows for just about everything, get rich quick plans, too many examples to cite! For the topic of Success, the list grows exponentially. The truth is that there is no easy or quick way to achieve Success.

Sure, we’ve all heard about the 21 year old who made millions designing a great app or the talented teen who made it big on American Idol. But even with…..

Being in the Moment

Diane 0 0

It’s easy to lose sight of why running is fun. Setting goals is fine but it can sometimes add pressure and soon, running becomes a stress adder instead of de-stressor. Goal setting is a basic element of my personality. I enjoy achieving goals, even falling short is okay in the quest for improvement. Last year though, I think I got a bit too caught up with my running goals and I ended up disappointed in Chicago. Even though I still…..

True Love

Diane 0 0

There are many things Hubby and I share and one of them is NOT making a big deal about Valentine’s Day. We don’t get each other cards or make a big deal out of it because we try to make every day of our marriage special. Not that every day is like a romance movie or super special; we just try to communicate or show our love for each other all the time rather than on one day. In Jan…..

Team Tuff-e-Nuff

Diane 0 1

Run the Edge started an all-year challenge; run or walk 2,015 miles in 2015. I pulled together a team of 3 to motivate each other throughout the year. We are all aiming for individual goals of 1008 miles and we agreed that they’d all be running miles. First order of business: select a team name. I threw out the idea “Tuff-e-Nuff” and my teammates, Ginny and Tom, all liked it so that was easy enough. Ginny is my sister in…..

Getting Started

Diane 0 0

Short post today. It has taken me over 4 weeks to get my website renewed via my publisher. What a total journey of absolute frustration! But let’s not dwell on negative things. My website is now up and running again, so let’s get started! I felt a bit lost after running the Chicago Marathon. I did PR but I didn’t hit the goal I had worked so hard for and I felt a bit discouraged. I ran a HM race…..

Chicago Marathon – Amazing!

Diane 0 0

ChicagoWaveOn Oct 12th I ran the Chicago Marathon, with ~50k runners!  My first major, international marathon and my first “destination race.”  It was an amazing experience and it’s taken several weeks post race for me to absorb it all.

First, let me say that I am very blessed.  I am grateful that I can run marathons and…..

Something Different

Diane 0 0

HH2014I’m taking a different path with today’s topic and thought my Hospital Hill race photo is a nice way to connect since I’m waving “hello.” 🙂

My dear friend and West Point classmate, Susan Spieth, invited me to participate in a Blog Hop titled, My Writing Process.  You can check out Susan’s blog and learn about her…..
